PlusBus eTicketing Trial to Launch in June 2024

In response to customer demand, the eagerly anticipated eTicket day product will be launched across eight PlusBus schemes in June 2024, towards a wider roll out in autumn 2024. Making PlusBus available as a barcode ticket is a direct response to customer demand. It will allow customers to purhcase and use their PlusBus ticket via their smartphone.

Where is the PlusBus eTicket trial taking place?

The PlusBus eTicket trail will be launched in Cambridge and the seven PlusBus scheme areas that are part of the West Yorlshire ticketing zone - Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Halifax, Keighley and Dewsbury.

Where can I buy a PlusBus eTicket?

In trial areas, customers will be able to purchase their PlusBus day ticket via leading rail ticketing apps. It may take some app providors longer than others to be in a position to offer Plusbus eTickets, but we will keep you up-to-date about who is selling them and when right here – keep checking back.

How do I use them?

During the trial, e-tickets will be accepted as a flash pass. Customers in trial areas can simply show their ticket to the driver when boarding the bus. We are working with bus operators to scan tickets moving forwards.

Can I still buy paper tickets?

There are no plans to replace PlusBus paper or smart ticketing; barcode tickets will be an additional method of fulfilment. In trial areas, day tickets and longer period products are still available as paper tickets via ticket offices and ticket vending machines.
